If you hadn't seen A Very English Scandal – a comedy–drama mini–series, starring Hugh Grant as Jeremy Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as Norman Scott, first broadcast on BBC1 in 2018 – you may well never have heard the name of Norman Scott's dog. I know some people felt this was a very obscure question.
Personally, having watched and enjoyed A Very English Scandal, I was quite happy with the question.
One little thing does bother me though.
The dog is customarily described as belonging to Scott – even "beloved" of him. But my memory from watching the series (almost 18 months ago now) is that it wasn't actually his dog; he was minding it for someone else – a pub landlady, if I remember correctly.
I have tried to verify this, and the closest I can get to an answer is this page on the Daily Mail website, where I read "it has been reported in the past that it was [Norman Scott's] dog but was in fact owned by someone else."
This is just mentioned in passing, in what is not a particularly coherent article in any case.
Like I say, it's just a little thing. But can anyone help?
